In last week’s Herald, John Piper was quoted as saying, “Missions exists because worship doesn’t”.
Missions and evangelism will cease when Christ comes again, for all who gather before His throne will be praising and glorifying His name. That scene is found in the book of Revelation and Don Moen has attempted to capture it in the lyrics of the song Hallelujah To The Lamb.
As we are in the midst of Missions Month, may we take the time to prayerfully reflect on the lyrics. May they inspire and encourage us as we persevere in our prayers and participation in missions and evangelism.
Hallelujah To The Lamb
Lord I stand in the midst of a multitude
Of those from every tribe and tongue
We are Your people redeemed by Your blood
Rescued from death by Your love
There are no words
Good enough to thank You
There are no words to express my praise
But I will lift up my voice
And sing from my heart
With all of my strength.
Hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah
To the Lamb
Hallelujah hallelujah
By the blood of Christ we stand
Every tongue every tribe
Every people every land
Giving glory giving honour
Giving praise unto the Lamb of God.
Lord we stand by grace in Your presence
Cleansed by the blood of the Lamb
We are Your children called by Your name
Humbly we bow and we pray.
Release Your power
To work in us and through us
Till we are changed
To be more like You.
Then all the nations will see
Your glory revealed
And worship You.
Hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah
To the Lamb
Hallelujah hallelujah
By the blood of Christ we stand
Every tongue every tribe
Every people every land
Giving glory giving honour
Giving praise unto the Lamb of God.
Every knee shall bow
Every tongue confess
That You are Lord of all.
Hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah
To the Lamb
Hallelujah hallelujah
By the blood of Christ we stand
Every tongue every tribe
Every people every land
Giving glory giving honour
Giving praise unto the Lamb of God.
Giving praise unto the Lamb of God
Giving praise unto the Lamb of God
Jesus Christ Lamb of God
In reflecting upon the lyrics, may we be reminded that we have been bought with the precious blood of the Lamb and thus our lives are to be lived in worship of Him who has redeemed us.
Thus, in anticipation of the glorious scene in Revelation 5, we are privileged in our place in human history to be able to heed the call in Romans 10:
Rom 10:14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
